Maulana upset over not getting his share, says Faisal Karim Kundi

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has taken a swipe at Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying the JUI-F chief is unhappy because he did not get his share in the government.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Kundi said intelligence-based operations were being carried out to eliminate terrorism and would help reduce incidents of terrorism in the province.

He said the opposition would continue to criticise the government even if the province was transformed into a city of flowers and provided with all necessary facilities.

The governor said the government was taking steps to address the problems accumulated over the past 13 years, adding that no one would be spared and the government was focused on delivering results.

He said better laws would be introduced and legislation would be carried out for the improvement of the province.

Responding to criticism over his use of a helicopter, Kundi said helicopters were meant for the governor, chief minister and prime minister. He clarified that he had used the aircraft for official purposes and not for personal luxury.

He further alleged that previous governments had issued permits in exchange for money, while the current administration was taking action to remove encroachments.

Addressing concerns of those affected by the anti-encroachment drive, he said a mechanism was being developed to address their grievances. He added that measures would also be taken for street vendors, including providing them with suitable alternative locations.

The governor also said the provincial government was working to address incidents involving polio workers and strengthen efforts to reduce the spread of polio in the province.
