Vietnam reports 6,559 new COVID-19 cases, 120,819 in total

HANOI: Vietnam recorded 6,559 new cases of COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, including 6,555 locally transmitted and four imported, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.

The new infections brought the total tally to 120,819 with 630 deaths, the ministry said.

Among the community cases, 4,449 were reported in the southern epicenter Ho Chi Minh City, 631 in the nearby southern Binh Duong province, and 271 in the southern Dong Nai province.

So far, 27,457 COVID-19 patients have recovered, up 4,511 from Tuesday, while 5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide, according to the ministry.

As of Wednesday, Vietnam had registered a total of 118,612 domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases, including 117,042 detected since the start of the latest outbreak in late April, the ministry said.
