Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has agreed to join Kent Spitfires for the second half of the English county’s T20 Blast campaign this season.
The 29-year-old Amir will be available for seven of Kent’s group stage matches and will have an option to play in the knockout rounds if they qualify.
Amir’s exact arrival date will depend on Karachi Kings’ progression in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), and any mandatory quarantining period upon arrival into the UK.
His first match as a Kent Spitfire could be a return to Chelmsford against his former side Essex Eagles on 25th June.
He has previously represented Essex county for 21 games back in 2017 and 2019 when the Eagles went on to claim the title.
“I am excited to join a Kent team full of potential. I have always enjoyed playing at Canterbury, and I hope I will be able to help Kent win a trophy this year.” Amir said.
Kent players have also welcomed Amir and excited to play alongside him this year.
