In the Data Ganj Bakhsh Zone, the collusion between officials of the Data Ganj Bakhsh Zone and the land mafia in the illegal multi-story construction and expansion of the under-construction Hujveri Plaza has been exposed. It has been revealed that the owners of Hujveri Plaza, located at Chauburji Chowk, Chaudhry Atif, and their frontman Yusuf Durrani, in collusion with the ZOP (Zone Officer Planning) of Data Ganj Bakhsh Zone, Mehwish Naeem, have deceived the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore and the Administrator of MCL (Metropolitan Corporation Lahore).
According to sources, ZOP Mehwish Naeem instructed Building Inspector Muhammad Irfan not to file any report regarding the construction of the third floor of Hujveri Plaza. Meanwhile, the construction of the third floor’s roof is being completed rapidly. As a formality, the officers conducted a fake and bogus operation in which they broke a staircase and shared the pictures with the MO Planning, but did not take any action against the illegal construction of the third floor. Extensive construction, including the laying of the roof over the third floor, is ongoing.
Furthermore, the land mafia and the plaza owners, Chaudhry Atif and Yusuf Durrani, have begun a large-scale fraud by taking millions of rupees in bookings from innocent citizens for shops that have not yet been built and are not even recorded in official documents or plans. This raises concerns that people’s millions of rupees may be lost.
What is even more troubling is that despite the illegal construction and expansion taking place just a few furlongs away from the Data Ganj Bakhsh Zone and approximately two kilometers from the Municipal Corporation’s headquarters, higher officials and the entire administrative machinery remain silent spectators due to the collusion of the town officers. The relevant officers are protecting this criminal activity.
Citizens have demanded immediate notice from the government and accountability institutions to stop the illegal constructions and take strict legal action against those involved. They warn that if timely action is not taken, this exploitation of public rights will continue, and more innocent citizens will be defrauded.
