A local non-governmental organisation has handed over a newly constructed football ground of international standards to Government Elementary School, Heer in Sialkot district under its Move For the Planet (MFTP) project.
The Sudhaar Society project focuses on climate change adaptation through the construction of a new sports facility using recycled plastic, including the construction of a football pitch, spectator stands for 200 people and changing rooms.
The facility will provide access to 3,000 children and youth on a monthly basis and aims to use an estimated 50% recycled material, including eco-building blocks and plastic chairs made with recycled plastic waste.
The ceremony was attended by Punjab land authority Chairman MPA Tariq Subhani, Sialkot DEA Chief Executive Officer Mujahid Hussain Alvi, Sudhaar Society Chief Executive Officer Nadeem Iqbal, renowned community leaders, media members, teachers union representatives, and a large number of local people.
At the end, a signing ceremony was held between Sudhaar and DEA for the handing over of the ground to the department.
Certificates of appreciation were also presented to the members of the School Management Committee, school staff and dignitaries of the area for their excellent cooperation during the construction of the ground by the Sudhaar Society.
