PM vows to defend sovereignty against future aggression

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday expressed his concern over the recent provocative statements by the Indian leadership, affirming that in the face of any future aggression, Pakistan would resolutely defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Speaking with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, over the telephone, the prime minister emphasised that Pakistan had agreed to the ceasefire understanding with India in the interest of regional peace, and remained committed to upholding it.

He stressed that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute was the root cause of instability in South Asia, which should be resolved in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolutions.

The prime minister said Azerbaijan’s consistent support reflects the profound love and affection of its people for Pakistan. He also extended his thanks to the brotherly people of Azerbaijan for standing with Pakistan during difficult times.

PM Shehbaz noted that once again, both countries demonstrated their enduring friendship and mutual trust. He added that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have always stood by each other like true brothers.
