Israeli tanks, troops advancing to Gaza City’s centre
Israeli tanks and troops are stationed in two areas of Gaza City, advancing towards the city’s centre, sparking panic among thousands of civilians in the occupied area, Al Jazeera reported.
Israeli army spokesperson Nadav Shoshani said troops have been operating in the city for several weeks, but large numbers of soldiers have been moved inside the city since Monday night.
He added that a combination of infantry, tanks, and artillery is advancing, backed by the air force, and the assault to seize Gaza’s main urban centre is a gradual process that will intensify as time goes on, Shoshani said.
“The strategy right now is to defeat Hamas and apply pressure on Hamas, which can lead to a deal or can lead to rescue missions [to free captives],” he said.

It warned residents of three villages to evacuate.
Lebanon’s state news agency NNA confirmed strikes in the area. There was no immediate reaction from Hezbollah, or word on any damage or casualties.
