Top 6 Muslim clerics to join Int’l Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference in Dhaka

Six influential scholars of the Muslim world are set to visit Dhaka in November to participate in the International Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Conference, which will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan, the capital’s historic venue.

The confirmation came from Maulana Obaidullah Qasmi, Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh’s Khatm-e-Nabuwwat Tahafuz Committee (KNTC), who spoke to 24 News about the upcoming event.

He said that the visit has been arranged on the invitation of Maulana Abdul Hamid, who is known as Pir Saheb Madhupuri, Amir of the Committee.

According to Maulana Qasmi, he had already met Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence in Pakistan to formally invite him to the conference.

In addition, formal invitations were extended to Maulana Arshad Madani, Maulana Mahmood Madani, and Maulana Abu’l Qasim Nomani, along with two other leading scholars. All of them, he confirmed, have accepted the invitation.

The scholars visiting Bangladesh include Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman; influential Indian religious leader and President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Maulana Syed Arshad Madani; Principal of India’s Darul Uloom Deoband seminary Maulana Abu’l Qasim Nomani; as well as Maulana Syed Mahmood Makki, Maulana Abdul Rahman, and Maulana Abdul Rahman Makki.

Speaking about the meaning of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Finality of Prophethood), Maulana Qasmi explained that the term derives from two Arabic words. Khatm means “end” or “completion”, while Nabuwwat means “prophethood”.

In Islamic theology, Khatm-e-Nabuwwat signifies the belief that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last prophet and that there shall be no prophets after him.
