CM Maryam allots 720 flats through balloting to industrial workers

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has allotted 720 newly constructed flats to homeless industrial workers through balloting, it was reported on Tuesday.
Maryam Nawaz started the balloting of lots by pressing a button. The Chief Minister also personally called an industrial worker named Nadeem Tahir and congratulated him.
At the direction of the Chief Minister, another 1872 flats for industrial workers will be completed in the next 18 months.
The Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, ordered to provide flats on the ground floor for the convenience and safety of special industrial workers.
On the occasion, Maryam Nawaz ordered that widows and special persons be separated from the balloting of lots and given flats to them as well.
Provincial Minister for Labour Manshaullah Butt gave a briefing about the project of flats for industrial workers.
The Minister briefed that free flats, plots and bachelor hostels for industrial workers is the vision of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
As many as 5897 workers were declared eligible for the Worker Welfare Complex and Sunder Industrial Estate Phase-I.
Not less than 480 flats will be allotted to industrial workers of Kasur, while 240 flats will be allotted to workers of Lahore.
Widows of workers who died during service will get 3 percent quota and special workers will get 2 percent quota.
The total cost of the flat project of Sunder Industrial Estate is Rs3.4 billion.
Each magnificent flat built for industrial workers costs more than Rs3.6 million.
About 672 flats for Sunder Phase II, 656 in Multan and 544 in Warburton Nankana Sahib will be given to industrial workers.
More than 2000 industrial workers will be given free plots of three marla each in the labour colonies to be built in Kamalia and in Jhang.
About 1300 workers in Jhang and 700 in Kamalia will get plots after infrastructure development.
