Section 144 imposed in Murree ahead of New Year celebrations

The district administration on Monday imposed Section 144 in Murree ahead of New Year celebrations to maintain law and order and ensure public safety.

According to an official notification issued by Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, the restrictions will remain in force from December 31 to January 1.

Under Section 144, the display of weapons and aerial firing have been strictly banned. The administration has warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the orders or creating any disturbance during the festive period.

In addition, special entry regulations have been introduced for New Year’s Night. Only families will be allowed to enter Mall Road up to GPO Chowk, while individuals arriving without families will be restricted to the surrounding areas of Murree.

Murree District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Raza Tanveer Sipra, also released a video message urging the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. He emphasized that the measures are aimed at ensuring a peaceful and enjoyable environment for visitors and residents alike.

Authorities have appealed to tourists to follow the guidelines, avoid unlawful activities, and help maintain peace in the hill station during the New Year celebrations.
