India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has acknowledged that the country faced serious challenges during Operation Sindoor, describing it as a difficult experience and stressing the need for stronger preparation in the future.
Speaking about the operation, General Chauhan said upcoming challenges would be different and more complex. He urged the armed forces to focus on future readiness instead of dwelling on past events. His remarks were seen by observers as an effort to move forward after what many analysts described as a disappointing outcome.
The CDS pointed to technological shortcomings as one of the reasons behind the operational difficulties. He emphasized that adopting modern and advanced technology would be essential for improving performance in future missions. According to him, innovation and modernization must become central priorities for India’s defence strategy.
General Chauhan also highlighted the importance of better coordination among the army, navy, and air force. Defence experts believe that stronger cooperation between the three services is crucial to avoid similar setbacks and to enhance overall operational effectiveness.
Analysts say that while technology is important, it alone cannot fix deeper institutional weaknesses. They argue that structural improvements, clearer command systems, and stronger joint planning are equally necessary.
