NADRA launches self-service system to ease identity card processing

The National Database and Registration Authority has introduced an automated system aimed at improving public access to identity card services, allowing citizens to complete applications through self-service kiosks.

The facility has been launched at the NADRA Mega Centre in Lahore, where 22 counters have been designated for the new system.

According to centre in-charge Adeel Wajahat Hussain, the initiative is designed to streamline the process and reduce waiting times for visitors.

Under the self-service kiosk system, citizens can independently apply for new identity cards, renew existing ones and obtain smart cards without requiring direct assistance from staff.

Officials say the system is expected to enhance efficiency and improve overall service delivery.

Hussain noted that more than 1,800 people visit the centre daily for identity-related services.

To assist visitors, guidance boards have also been installed outside the facility, helping individuals navigate the new process.

Members of the public have welcomed the initiative, stating that the automated system has made the procedure more convenient.

Some citizens also expressed appreciation for the efforts of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and NADRA officials in introducing the upgrade.

Authorities said the move is part of broader efforts to modernise public services and provide faster, more accessible facilities to citizens.
