Pakistan ranks 16th in global outsourcing talent index

Pakistan has been ranked 16th in the latest Global Outsourcing Talent Index, highlighting the country’s growing presence in the international technology and outsourcing market.

According to the report, Pakistan’s technology sector is expanding at an annual growth rate of around 20 percent. The index suggests that with further improvements in digital infrastructure, the country has the potential to climb from 16th to 11th position in the global rankings.

Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima welcomed the report, saying the government is working to position Pakistan as a leading global center for technology and outsourcing. She stated that transforming the country into a global tech hub remains a key objective of the IT ministry.

The minister said preparations for the launch of 5G services are progressing, with the spectrum auction already completed. She added that work on expanding fiber-optic infrastructure is moving forward quickly. Internet connectivity is also expected to improve with the addition of three new submarine cables.

Shaza Fatima further shared that the government is considering a plan to strengthen land-based digital links with China and Central Asian countries to enhance regional connectivity.

She noted that the government has set a target to train one million young people in artificial intelligence skills. Programs such as DigiSkills are also being expanded to promote freelancing and technical expertise among youth.

The minister added that over the past 18 months, Pakistan has taken part in more than 40 global technology events, with over 400 Pakistani companies and startups showcasing their services internationally. She emphasized that the development of the IT sector remains a top priority for the government.
