Attacks on police stations in two different areas of Balochistan have left at least one police officer dead and five others injured.
According to government officials, the attacks were successfully repelled, and one attacker was killed in retaliatory firing by police.
One of the incidents took place late Friday night at a police station in the Dhadar area of District Kachhi. A police officer, Sohail Ahmed, said over the phone that a large number of armed men attacked the station.
He confirmed that at least one police officer was killed and four others injured in the assault. He added that one attacker was also killed in the police response.
The attack also caused damage to vehicles parked outside the police station.
In another incident, unknown armed men attacked a police station in the Mel area of District Nushki on Friday night.
A local administration official in Nushki said around 30 armed men were involved in the attack, during which one police officer sustained minor injuries.
He added that due to the swift response from security forces, the attackers were unable to enter the police station.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Home Department spokesperson Babar Yousafzai said the attack in Dhadar was effectively foiled through timely action by security forces.
He stated that militants tried to take advantage of the night, but security personnel remained alert and responded immediately, forcing the attackers to retreat.
