Welfare of people govt’s top priority, says CM Maryam

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed to provide maximum financial assistance to the people living below the poverty line and said that the welfare of the people is her government’s top priority, it was reported on Monday.

She expressed these views while presiding over a special meeting in the Punjab Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Department.

Secretary of Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Saira Umar gave a comprehensive and detailed briefing to the Chief Minister.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab government will convert the social welfare department as per the standards of European countries.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that more than 16,00,000 people take benefits from the Rashan Card, Himmat Card, and Minority Card.

She disclosed that more than 1,00,000 benefited from the Himmat Card, 14,00,000 from the Rashan Card, and 1,00,000 from the Minority Card.

Maryam Nawaz said that 5,000 mass marriage events were arranged in Punjab through the Dhee Rani Programme.

The Chief Minister said that the Punjab government will provide full support to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are working for the welfare of women and children.

The Chief Minister directed to digitalize Zakat funds with medicines. During the meeting, it was decided to collect data and map beggars across the province.
