The Government of Pakistan has taken a major decision to streamline and centralise recruitment related to artificial intelligence (AI), introducing a new framework for hiring across federal institutions.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, all federal ministries and divisions will now conduct AI-related hiring under central supervision.
Under the new system, no recruitment process related to artificial intelligence will begin without approval from the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA).
Officials said the move aims to ensure standardisation and oversight in emerging technology roles across government departments.
The Federal Board of Revenue has also issued a circular informing all field formations about the new instructions.
The policy makes technical vetting mandatory for hiring processes, the creation of new posts and recruitment procedures.
Prior approval will now be required for job advertisements, terms of reference and recruitment plans related to AI positions.
The Pakistan Digital Authority has been designated as the central body for all AI human resource hiring matters. All federal institutions have been instructed to submit related cases to the authority.
The same policy will also apply to jobs linked with emerging technologies.
The Federal Board of Revenue has begun implementing the new guidelines and has appointed its secretary, management and human resources as the focal person.
All chief commissioners and directors general have been directed to comply with the instructions.
