Pak-Bangladesh Test series: Babar Azam, Khurram Shahzad depart for Dhaka

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team players Babar Azam and Khurram Shahzad have departed for Dhaka to participate in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

Babar Azam and Khurram Shahzad, who are part of Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, did not travel with the squad to Bangladesh two days earlier due to their PSL commitments.

Both cricketers had participated in the PSL final last night and are expected to join the national Test squad late tonight in Dhaka. In addition, several members of the Pakistan Test team support staff have also left for Dhaka.

The Pakistan Test squad is scheduled to hold its first training session in Dhaka today. The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin on May 8, while the second Test will be played on May 16 in Sylhet.

The Pakistan Test team, led by Shan Masood, includes Abdullah Shafique, Imad Butt, Azaan Awais, Babar Azam, Hasan Ali, and Imam-ul-Haq. Other players in the squad are Khurram Shahzad, Muhammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Former Test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as head coach for the Bangladesh tour, while former Test cricketers Asad Shafiq and Umar Gul will serve as batting and bowling coaches respectively.
