LAHORE: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers until June 12 in multiple cases related to the May 9 incidents.
The duty judge of the ATC heard six cases, including the burning of containers at Kalma Chowk and damage to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office during the May 9 protests.
During the hearing, PTI founder’s sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan did not appear in court. Their lawyers submitted a one-day exemption application, stating that both were attending court proceedings in Islamabad.
Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry also submitted an application seeking exemption from appearance. Meanwhile, several senior leaders, including former federal ministers Asad Umar and Azam Swati, appeared before the court.
After hearing initial arguments, the court extended the interim bail of PTI leaders and workers until June 12 and directed lawyers to complete their arguments on the bail pleas at the next hearing.
