PESHAWAR: In a major blow to Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi could not intact the majority of his MPs in the party’s parliamentary meeting as 30 to 35 members, including former KP CM and PTI senior leader Ali Amin Gandapur, did not attend the crucial huddle at a time when the party needs to show strength ahead of Gilgit-Baltistan elections.
According to sources, 52 out of 92 members attended the PTI parliamentary party meeting and 30 to 35 members were unable to attend the meeting, while the government sources claimed that around 72 members attended the meeting.
A meeting of the parliamentary party was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi here on Sunday.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the PTI leadership was not being allowed to meet the party’s founder Imran Khan in jail.
“The party and the entire nation are concerned about the health of the founder. The government should provide treatment to the founder of the PTI in the presence of his family,” the KP CM said.
Next budget will be people-friendly, and the vision of the founder will be reflected in the development projects, he vowed.
Sources said some members of the assembly could not attend the meeting as they are out of the country. According to sources, several angry members of the assembly also attended the meeting.
