Kuwait Airport attack leaves one dead, dozens injured

KUWAIT CITY: A major attack has struck Kuwait International Airport. One person has been killed. At least 63 people have been injured.

The airport was targeted by drones and ballistic missiles. The attack also damaged Terminal 1 of the airport. Nearby areas were also affected.

Kuwaiti authorities confirmed that air traffic was temporarily suspended. Later, limited operations resumed from Terminal 4 after safety checks.

Officials said multiple hostile targets were detected in Kuwaiti airspace. The military stated that 13 ballistic missiles and 17 drones were intercepted. Some debris still fell in residential areas.

Damage was reported at civilian locations and diplomatic sites. Authorities said an Indian expatriate lost his life in the attack. Several others were injured.

Security forces carried out emergency response operations in affected areas. Rescue teams were deployed to clear debris and assist the injured.

Tensions in the Gulf region have increased significantly after the incident. Bahrain also reported intercepting incoming missiles and drones. Military systems were activated across the region.

Iran has claimed responsibility for targeting US-linked installations in the Gulf. Iranian officials said the actions were in response to earlier attacks. They also accused Kuwait and Bahrain of supporting US military operations.

Iran’s foreign ministry said the country reserves the right to respond. It warned of further action if attacks continue.

The United States military said some missiles failed during flight. It also confirmed strikes on a vessel heading toward Iran near the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz remains highly unstable due to ongoing conflict. Maritime traffic and energy supplies have been disrupted. Oil prices have also increased following the escalation.

Several regional countries have condemned the attacks. Qatar strongly criticised strikes on civilian infrastructure. It called the incident a violation of international law.

The wider conflict in the Middle East is also expanding. Israeli forces have carried out fresh strikes in Lebanon. Several people have been killed in those attacks.
