The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has achieved its highest-ever annual tax collection, surpassing Rs367 billion during the fiscal year 2025-26, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history and reflecting a strong improvement in provincial revenue generation.
According to a spokesperson for the PRA, the authority collected more than Rs367 billion in taxes during FY2025-26, registering an increase of approximately Rs97 billion over the previous fiscal year. In FY2024-25, the authority had collected around Rs270 billion, meaning the latest figures represent an impressive 36 percent year-on-year growth.
Officials attributed the record performance to improved tax administration, stronger enforcement measures, enhanced compliance by taxpayers, and the expansion of the provincial tax base.
PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Supra praised the authority’s performance, stating that the fiscal year concluded on a high note with more than Rs48 billion collected in taxes during June alone. He described the June collection as one of the strongest monthly performances in the authority’s history.
The chairman said the record-breaking revenue reflects the dedication of PRA officers and staff, as well as the growing confidence of taxpayers in the province’s revenue system. He added that the authority remains committed to further improving tax collection through the use of digital technologies, transparent procedures, and taxpayer-friendly reforms.
Following the exceptional performance in FY2025-26, the Punjab government has set an ambitious revenue target of Rs528 billion for the Punjab Revenue Authority in the fiscal year 2026-27. The new target represents a substantial increase and underscores the government’s expectations for continued growth in provincial tax revenues.
Revenue experts believe achieving the new target will require further expansion of the tax net, stricter enforcement against tax evasion, and continued investment in digital tax collection systems to sustain the momentum witnessed during the past fiscal year.
