England to clash with Australia in women’s T20 World Cup final

England will take on Australia in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at Lord’s in London on Sunday after both teams secured convincing victories in their respective semi-finals.

Australia booked their place in the title clash with an eight-wicket win over the West Indies in the first semi-final at The Oval.

Australia won the toss and asked the West Indies to bat. They restricted the team to 125-7 before chasing down the target comfortably, reaching 126-2 in the 13th over.

In the second semi-final, hosts England defeated South Africa by 40 runs to secure their place in the final.

Batting first after South Africa opted to bowl, England posted 169-5. South Africa fell well short in reply, finishing on 129-8 from their 20 overs.

Ahead of Sunday’s final, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has urged its members to attend the match and fill the stands at Lord’s.

The appeal comes after the club faced criticism during the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final, when many seats in the members’ enclosure remained empty despite England’s victory in front of a crowd of around 24,000 spectators.
