ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated US President Donald Trump on the 250th anniversary of the United States, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest.

In a congratulatory message, President Zardari praised the United States for its long history of innovation, democratic values, and contributions to global development over the past two and a half centuries. He acknowledged the achievements of the American people, describing them as an important force in promoting international progress and prosperity.

The president said Pakistan and the United States enjoy a longstanding relationship founded on mutual respect, common interests, and a shared commitment to promoting peace, security, and economic prosperity. He added that the strong Pakistani-American community has played a vital role in deepening ties between the two nations by fostering friendship and understanding.

Highlighting the positive direction of bilateral relations, President Zardari said both countries should maintain the current momentum by enhancing cooperation in energy security, trade, investment, defence, counterterrorism, and other key sectors.

He also stressed that a strong partnership between Pakistan and the United States contributes significantly to regional stability. Referring to diplomatic efforts in South Asia, he acknowledged President Trump’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between two nuclear-armed neighbours last year, describing it as an important step toward reducing regional tensions.
