Five killed in Gaza as death toll climbs

Five Palestinians lost their lives in Israeli attacks across Gaza over the past 24 hours, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The latest fatalities bring the overall death toll since October 2023 to 73,098.

In its daily update released on Monday, the ministry said hospitals received the bodies of five victims, including three people killed during the past day and two bodies recovered from the rubble. Medical teams also treated seven injured people, raising the total number of wounded to 173,571.

The ministry said Israeli attacks have continued despite a ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025. Since then, it reported 1,072 deaths and 3,463 injuries.

Health officials added that rescue workers still cannot reach many victims trapped beneath collapsed buildings or stranded in damaged areas because of ongoing access challenges.

The war has devastated Gaza, destroying around 90% of its infrastructure. The United Nations estimates reconstruction will cost about $70 billion.

The ministry also said Israel continues to restrict the entry of agreed amounts of food, medicine, medical supplies, shelter materials and prefabricated housing. As a result, around 2.4 million Palestinians, including about 1.5 million displaced people, remain in severe humanitarian conditions across the territory.
