Pakistan’s seafood exports have reached a historic high of $568 million, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said.
The minister said the increase was achieved due to reforms introduced under the Blue Economy initiative. He added that these measures helped improve the country’s marine sector and increased export opportunities.
Frozen fish remained Pakistan’s largest seafood export product. The major export destinations included China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and United States, along with several other international markets.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said Pakistan achieved record exports despite regional challenges. He praised the efforts of the Marine Fisheries Department for maintaining international quality standards.
He also appreciated the work of Dr Mansoor Wassan and his team, saying their efforts contributed to the growth of the seafood sector.
The minister said the government is now focusing on value-added seafood products and expanding access to new global markets.
He congratulated all stakeholders involved in achieving the country’s highest-ever seafood export figures.
