The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), taking action against agents who deducted relief money from Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) illegally, has arrested nine device holder agents in different operations in Hyderabad, it was reported on Friday.
According to a FIA spokesperson, operations were carried out at the relief money issuance center located in Latifabad.
Deserving women were being deprived of Rs1,500 to Rs2,000 each in exchange for issuing relief money.
During the operation, more than Rs1.9 million cash and six verification devices were also seized.
An inquiry was initiated on complaints of deduction from relief money.
Action was taken on the basis of evidence revealed during the inquiry.
Cases have been registered against the accused agents.
