ISLAMABAD: The three-day 2nd Mango Festival officially commenced today at DHA Phase 4, Islamabad, and will continue from 17 to 19 July. The festival was inaugurated by Sardar Rafiq Khan Mazari, who attended the event as the Chief Guest.
The organizers shared that they have successfully organized 10 Mango Festivals to date, with annual events held in Multan and at Centaurus Mall, Islamabad. This year’s festival at DHA Phase 4 continues the mission of promoting Pakistan’s mango industry by bringing together farmers, exporters, researchers, and consumers on one platform.
More than 20 premium varieties of Pakistani mangoes are on display, showcasing the country’s rich diversity, exceptional quality, and unique flavors. The festival aims to unite farmers and exporters, promote Pakistani mangoes as a national brand, and encourage collaboration to increase exports and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in international markets.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly Haider Laghari, former Inspector General of Sindh Khursheed Shah, Sardar Ali Jan Mazari, Dr. Rashid Ahmed, Executive Director of CropLife Association, representatives of the Punjab Food Authority representatives of the Punjab Food and Drug Authority, media and different associations.
The festival attracted an overwhelming response from the public, with families, mango lovers, and researchers visiting the venue in large numbers to explore and enjoy the diverse range of premium Pakistani mango varieties on display. The event also serves as a networking platform for growers, exporters, researchers, and stakeholders to exchange ideas and create new business opportunities.
Speaking on the occasion, participants emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between farmers, exporters, academia, and government institutions to enhance the global competitiveness of Pakistani mangoes and boost the country’s agricultural exports.
The festival has been organized by representatives of Nawaz Sharif Agriculture University Multan, M. Usman, M. Tariq, and Riaz Ahmed Hiraj, students and other staff members.
