Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties, with the two sides agreeing to expand cooperation across several key sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
The two ministers reviewed the positive momentum in bilateral relations following Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Pakistan. They also reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the understandings reached during the visit, including 37 memoranda of understanding (MoUs).
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to further promote cooperation in trade, investment, transport, regional connectivity, energy, people-to-people contacts and multilateral forums.
Kosherbayev appreciated Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and diplomacy in the region and expressed his country’s desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and global developments and reiterated their shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity.
According to the Foreign Office, Kosherbayev invited Dar to visit Kazakhstan.
Dar Meets Belarusian Counterpart
Separately, Ishaq Dar met Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov on the sidelines of the SCO meeting.
The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields. They discussed ways to enhance economic and trade ties as well as cooperation in defence, agriculture, technology and the exchange of skilled manpower.
The ministers also expressed their best wishes for the upcoming Pakistan-Belarus Joint Ministerial Commission, scheduled to be held in Islamabad on August 11 and 12, 2026.
According to the Foreign Office, the two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the Comprehensive Cooperation Roadmap for 2025-2027.
Ryzhenkov appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting dialogue between the United States and Iran and praised Islamabad’s continued efforts to advance peace and security in the region.
