Details of levies, taxes, and margins which the government is charging from the consumers on prices of petrol and high-speed diesel have been disclosed, it was reported on Monday.
A total of Rs125.95 is being charged on one litre of petrol, while Rs112.54 on diesel.
According to documents, the total price of one litre of petrol is fixed at Rs209.76 per litre, but the government fixed the petrol price at Rs335.18 per litre, imposing Rs80 petroleum levy.
The documents further revealed that Rs5 is imposed on petrol rate under the head of climate support levy. The government also slapped Rs17.28 as customs duty on one litre of petrol.
The government is also generating an Inland Freight Equalization Margin of Rs7.16 per litre on petrol.
The margin for oil marketing companies for one litre of petrol is Rs7.87 and dealers margin is Rs8.64.
