Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed the latest developments under the Board of Peace aimed at implementing the disarmament process outlined in the Gaza Peace Plan, describing the progress as a positive step towards lasting peace.
In a post on X, the prime minister appreciated the mediation efforts of the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, saying their diplomatic engagement had played a key role in advancing the peace process.
He also praised US President Donald Trump for his leadership, stating that the recent progress represented a significant achievement for the Board of Peace.
The prime minister expressed hope that the latest developments would lead to the implementation of all commitments under the Gaza Peace Plan and help move the peace process forward.
Reiterating Pakistan’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan hopes these efforts will pave the way for the realization of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination through a credible and time-bound political process, in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an independent, sovereign and contiguous State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
