Following recent monsoon rains and floodwaters coming from upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), water level is continuously rising in Tarbela Dam.
The dam administration said on Saturday that the water level in the dam was only 11 feet short of the full level.
The water level in the dam was recorded at 1,539 feet, while the dead level is 1,402 feet and the full level is 1,550 feet.
The inflow of water in the dam stood at 236700 cusecs, while the outflow at 180000 cusecs.
The dam has 17 power-producing units, while presently the power generation stands at 4,888 megawatts against the total capacity of 4,980 megawatts.
Two weeks ago, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had warned of an expected increase in water flow in the Indus River after the spillways of Tarbela Dam were opened.
According to the NDMA, releasing water from the spillways is expected to significantly increase river flows in downstream areas along the Indus.
The authority urged people to avoid recreational and tourism activities along the river, warning that strong currents could pose serious risks.
It also advised people to stay away from waterways and river channels during periods of high flow.
