Adiala jail superintendent rejects solitary confinement claims about PTI founder

Adiala Jail Superintendent Sajid Baig has rejected allegations regarding the conditions of the PTI founder Imran Khan, stating that the claims made in a petition filed by Aleema Khan is speculative and baseless.

Rejecting solitary confinement claims, jail superintendent asserted that PTI founder Imran Khan has access to natural light, fresh air and exercise facilities from sunrise to sunset in accordance with jail rules.

He further said that the founder’s privacy is ensured, he may engage in activities of his choice and free to move within the designated area from the opening of the lock-up in the morning until it is closed in the evening.

Adiala Jail Superintendent calimed that the prisoner’s accommodation is secure, under constant surveillance and staffed by an adequate number of jail personnel. The superintendent along with other senior jail officials, regularly inspects the security arrangements.

Sajid Baig said that PTI founder is allowed to meet his wife, Bushra Imran, every Tuesday under jail ruling. In addition, he is regularly provided with newspapers and books of his choice. The superintendent informed the court that Advocate Salman Safdar, acting as a Friend of the Court, inspected the PTI founder’s cell on February 10, 2026, and thoroughly reviewed his living conditions and submitted the findings to the Supreme Court later.

The report maintained that the PTI founder’s custody and residential conditions are satisfactory, emphasizing that there is no element of solitary confinement in his detention.
