Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) has approached National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to collect additional cost of Rs2.35 billion in bills from consumers, it was reported on Thursday.
Lesco’s application has been filed with Nepra for quarterly tariff adjustment.
According to documents, increase has been sought due to difference in electricity generation and sale from April to June.
Further, increase has also been sought in capacity charges and fuel prices from April to June.
Net metering users’ impact on the system and increase in transmission charges and other expenses were also demanded.
Domestic users used 8 percent less electricity than last year while commercial users used 7 percent less electricity and overall, up to four percent less electricity was used in Lesco.
Decrease in electricity sales leads to increase in price per unit.
However, Nepra will decide whether to approve quarterly tariff adjustment or not.
