Special Assistant to PM (SAPM) on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah said on Saturday that the PML-N would form a government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir by a two-third majority.
Addressing a public meeting at Bagh, he said that the party’s government would develop AJK on the same pattern it developed Punjab. “The Punjab government has introduced Himmat Card, is giving interest-free loans to people and launching modern transport projects in the province.”
Rana Sana said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made rigging claims in front of empty seats. “The truth of the matter is that the people of AJK have reposed their trust in the PML-N.”
The SAPM said that 38 points came under discussion during meetings between the government and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had assured the JAAC that the government would seriously consider their demands,” he said, adding it had been agreed that no minister would be picked from amongst those returning to the assembly on 12 reserved seats. “It had also been concurred that development funds will not be given to those assembly members.
However, later, he went on to say, the PPP went back on its words, and the present situation was the consequence of that backing out of commitment.
Rana Sana said that the PML-N government in AJK would give top priority to the resolution of people’s issues.
He said that both Kashmir and Pakistan were inseparable. “Kashmir is Pakistan’s jugular vein.”
He accused India of creating misunderstanding between Pakistan and the Kashmiris.
He, however, said that India’s designs would never succeed. “Pakistan and Kashmir are the two sides of the same coin.”
Earlier, addressing the gathering, Federal Minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Amir Muqam said that the PPP leaders should think why the people of AJK had rejected them. “The party will get nothing out of rigging allegations,” he said, adding that the people of AJK had voted for the PML-N government policies in Punjab.
