KARACHI: Electricity prices across Karachi and other parts of the country may increase by Rs1.34 per unit for three consecutive months under the quarterly adjustment mechanism, according to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
According to NEPRA, the per-unit electricity price may be increased by Rs1.34 under the quarterly adjustment mechanism. The proposed increase is expected to remain applicable for three months.
NEPRA has reserved its decision on the request submitted by electricity distribution companies. The authority will issue its decision after completing a detailed review of the request.
According to sources, approval of the proposed adjustment would place an additional burden of Rs34 billion on electricity consumers.
