The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced its candidates for four women’s reserved seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The party has finalised the names of Maryam Zaman, Maryam Idrees, Seharish Qamar and Raft Abid for the four seats.
The names were finalised on the recommendation of the PML-N parliamentary board. Abdul Rahman has also been awarded the party ticket for the overseas reserved seat.
According to 24NewsHD TV, elections for the eight reserved seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly are scheduled for August 24. The newly elected members are expected to take an oath on August 25.
The oath-taking ceremony will mark the formation of the new AJK Legislative Assembly. After the members take the oath, the schedule for the election of the speaker and deputy speaker will be announced.
The election for the new prime minister will be held after the election of the speaker and is expected to take place on August 27, according to sources.
Sources said the PML-N has a clear numerical advantage in the assembly and has emerged as the single largest party. The party has completed consultations for forming the new government.
Shah Ghulam Qadir is considered the strongest candidate for the post of the 17th prime minister of Azad Kashmir, sources said.
Candidates for all eight reserved seats have also been finalised by the PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party.
