Maulana Fazal ur Rehman announces united opposition plan after key meeting

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) and Tehreek Tahaffuz Aain Pakistan have agreed to establish a united opposition in Pakistan, with parliamentary politics expected to be the starting point of their cooperation.

The development followed an important meeting between opposition leaders, where the political situation and the future strategy of opposition parties were discussed. JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman later confirmed that the first round of consultations had resulted in an agreement to form a united opposition.

Speaking to the media, Fazlur Rehman described the meeting as an initial sitting and said further consultations would take place before the opposition alliance develops a broader strategy. The decision is being viewed as an attempt by opposition parties to coordinate their parliamentary activities and present a more organized political front.

According to sources, a joint parliamentary party meeting of opposition groups is also expected to take place. The emerging opposition alliance will reportedly continue consultations with Maulana Fazlur Rehman as the parties work out the details of their cooperation.

The meeting also included discussion about the health of PTI founder Imran Khan. His situation remains an important issue for Pakistan’s opposition politics, particularly as political parties continue to debate their future strategy.

When asked whether Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would become part of the opposition alliance, Fazlur Rehman said that the PPP is currently part of the government, while the discussion at hand concerns opposition parties. He also suggested that an All Parties Conference (APC) should be considered.

Questions were also raised about whether the opposition would cooperate only inside parliament or eventually take its campaign to the streets. Fazlur Rehman responded humorously, indicating that the political process was still at an early stage and that conclusions should not be drawn before further consultations.

The formation of a united opposition could become significant for Pakistan’s political landscape. If the participating parties maintain unity and develop a common parliamentary strategy, they could increase pressure on the government and play a stronger role in upcoming political debates.

For now, the alliance remains in its initial phase, with further meetings expected to determine its structure, priorities and future political direction.
