WAPDA shuts down its baseball, softball and netball teams

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has decided to discontinue its baseball, softball and netball teams.

According to a notification issued by the WAPDA Sports Board, the decision to discontinue activities in all three sports has been taken with immediate effect.

The development has caused concern among male and female athletes associated with the teams, while players and coaches affiliated with the three sports have reportedly been sent back to their respective duties.

The notification further said that players and coaches would not be made available for sports activities from August 18.

However, the WAPDA notification did not provide any reason for the closure of the three sports. The decision comes after WAPDA also decided not to participate in the Pakistan Cricket Board’s domestic cricket competitions.
