RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and Kuwait have taken a major step toward expanding bilateral defence cooperation with the signing of a new “Protocol Agreement-2026”, aimed at strengthening military collaboration and enhancing security ties between the two countries.
Kuwaiti Defence Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah, accompanied by Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Khalid Darj Saad Al-Shriaa, met Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif at the Ministry of Defence in Rawalpindi.
The two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on defence relations, security cooperation and opportunities to further deepen military ties.
The newly signed protocol builds on the existing Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023 and provides an expanded framework for military collaboration. Under the agreement, Pakistan’s armed forces will support Kuwait in areas including military training, capacity development, border management and other mutually agreed defence fields.
The agreement reflects the longstanding partnership, mutual trust and shared strategic interests between Pakistan and Kuwait. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening defence cooperation and working together to promote regional security, peace and stability.
The development is being viewed as another significant milestone in the close defence relationship between the two brotherly nations.
Moreover, Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional links and broadening mutually beneficial military collaboration between the two countries. The talks also highlighted the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Kuwait and the importance of closer coordination in promoting regional peace and stability.
The Kuwaiti delegation praised the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces, particularly their contributions to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The meeting concluded with both countries expressing their resolve to transform their historic relations into a stronger and more enduring defence partnership, aimed at advancing shared security interests and supporting stability across the region.
