Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has said that 24 million people are benefitting from the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said this scheme provides one hundred rupees per litre discount on petrol for owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis and small cars up to 800cc.
He said this is a targeted subsidy and has been implemented across the country. He mentioned the simple and transparent process introduced for registration in the scheme.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhary said the government has also taken austerity measures in view of the current situation including a fifty percent reduction in fuel allocation for official vehicles.
Responding to a question about the planned protests by some political parties, he said the government will fulfill its responsibility of maintaining law and order in the federal capital territory.
