PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has reaffirmed that the party’s October 4 long march will go ahead, rejecting a call from PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Secretary Shaukat Yousafzai to postpone it further amid security concerns and fears of emergency rule,reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to reporters, Gohar said the long march would remain peaceful and that PTI was not planning to attack or storm any location. He said the decision had been taken politically and the party would stand by it.
His remarks came after Yousafzai sent a letter to the PTI leadership urging it to further postpone the October 4 march, citing the security situation and increased terrorist activity. He also warned of the possibility of emergency rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Gohar said Yousafzai was entitled to express his opinion and that PTI respected his views. He described the matter as an internal party issue and said there was no resentment between the party and Yousafzai.
He said such letters continued to reach the party leadership and claimed that he had received around 180 letters from party members during the week.
Gohar also reiterated that Sohail Afridi would remain the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Referring to speculation about a possible change in the provincial leadership, he said PTI lawmakers should keep their CVs in their pockets.
On political dialogue, Gohar said a meeting between the opposition leader and the prime minister was a constitutional matter and should take place.
He said Rana Sanaullah had also spoken to him, while his participation in any meeting would depend on Mahmood Khan Achakzai. Gohar added that contacts between the government and opposition were necessary, although no concrete progress had been made so far.
He described the lack of meaningful political contacts as unfortunate and said dialogue should take place to find a way forward.
Gohar also spoke about PTI founder Imran Khan, saying there had been no meeting with him since October 15, 2025, and questioned the continued lack of access.
Commenting on terrorism, Gohar said it was a serious problem and should not happen anywhere. He added that treating PTI members like terrorists would further worsen the situation.
