Yemen’s army has claimed that it carried out 414 operations against Houthi targets across several fronts within 24 hours.
Military spokesman Majed al-Nuzaili said the attacks focused on Houthi reinforcements and military capabilities. According to a statement carried by the official Saba news agency, the operations caused losses among Houthi fighters and damaged military equipment. No specific casualty figures were provided.
The Houthis have not immediately responded to the army’s claims.
The latest announcement came a day after Yemen’s Defence Ministry reported 356 operations against Houthi positions across 10 fronts. The ministry claimed that the operations killed or wounded 476 Houthi members.
Yemen has remained locked in a prolonged conflict since the Houthis captured Sanaa and other areas in 2014. The escalation prompted a Saudi-led coalition to intervene in 2015 in support of Yemen’s internationally recognised government.
Fighting has intensified in recent weeks, with the Houthis reportedly gaining control of several important areas in Al-Hudaydah and Taiz provinces. The strategic city of Mokha and Mayyun Island near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait have also featured prominently in the latest developments.
Iran warns over Israel’s regional presence
Iran has warned of growing regional tensions following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry criticised Netanyahu’s visit on Tuesday, describing the timing as sensitive amid Israeli military actions involving Iran and the wider conflict in Palestine and Lebanon.
The ministry said Israel’s growing presence in the region could create a dangerous situation and urged regional governments to remain vigilant about threats to regional peace and security.
It also called on countries in the region to ensure that their territories are not used for activities that could contribute to instability.
Israeli media previously reported that Netanyahu held an expanded meeting during his September 27 visit to the UAE. The reports, citing an unnamed Emirati source, said officials from the United States, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Kuwait, Bahrain, Libya, Oman and Egypt also participated in the meeting alongside Israeli and Emirati representatives.
