Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has reviewed progress towards establishing the secretariat of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, as Riyadh, Islamabad and Ankara continue efforts to strengthen their defence cooperation.
The Cabinet meeting also considered developments in defence cooperation between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye, along with regional and international security developments.
The three countries signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in August, committing to strengthen collective security and defence cooperation. The agreement states that an armed attack on one of the three countries will be regarded as an attack on all three.
The latest Cabinet discussions followed a meeting in Riyadh on Friday between the defence chiefs and chiefs of general staff of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.
The military leaders reviewed threats facing Saudi Arabia and discussed ways to improve intelligence sharing, military coordination and the integration of defence capabilities.
