Pakistan trade deficit rises to $3.55 billion in September

Pakistan’s trade deficit increased to $3.55 billion in September, as national exports stood at $2.93 billion during September, while imports reached $6.49 billion.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on a monthly basis exports increased by 16 percent and imports by 11.50 percent, resulting in a 7.99 percent rise in the trade deficit.

During the first quarter of the current fiscal year, Pakistan recorded exports worth $8.42 billion and imports of $19.21 billion. The trade deficit during July to September stood at $10.79 billion, showing a 15 percent increase over the corresponding period.

According to the PBS data, exports increased by 10.84 percent during the first quarter, while imports rose by 13.21 percent.
