KARACHI: Remittances from overseas Pakistanis reached $3.59 billion in September 2026, registering a 12.7% increase compared with the same month last year, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
However, inflows declined by 1.9% compared with August, reflecting a month-on-month slowdown.
According to data released by the central bank, workers’ remittances totalled $10.87 billion during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, covering July to September, marking a 14% increase over the corresponding period last year.
Saudi Arabia remained a major source of remittances, with Pakistan receiving $899.1 million from the kingdom in September. The inflows were 19.7% higher than those recorded in the same month last year.
Remittances from the United Arab Emirates amounted to $748.5 million during the month, highlighting the continued importance of Gulf-based Pakistani workers in supporting the country’s external financial position.
The growth in remittances during the first quarter provides an important source of foreign exchange for Pakistan, supporting household consumption and helping strengthen external-sector inflows.
Despite the monthly decline in September, the double-digit year-on-year increase indicates that remittance inflows remained stronger than a year earlier.
