Achakzai, Nasir Abbas ‘decline’ to quit as Opposition leaders in NA, Senate

ISLAMABAD: In the background of PTI Political Committee’s meeting, party’s leaders of the Opposition in the National Assembly and the Senate have declined to resign from their posts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday, quoting sources.

Leader of the Opposition in NA Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Leader of the Opposition in Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas were both of the view that the PTI founder had handed them these posts and if he would ask them to quit they would, the sources said, adding they have asked the party that if it did not like their decision then the PTI can bring no-confidence motions against them in the parliamentary party meeting.

The sources maintained that if the parliamentary party adopted the no-trust motion they would promptly leave their posts. They would not resign from their posts on the demand of just a political committee or core committee.

Meanwhile, sources said complaints are piling up against Mahmood Khan Achakzai in the PTI parliamentary committee. Achakzai did not show much interest in launching efforts for getting production orders for the arrested party lawmakers. PTI Chief Whip Amir Dogar contacted the NA speaker’s office after Achakzai failed to do so.
