Barrister Gohar demands immediate release of Imran’s sisters

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has demanded the immediate release of former prime minister Imran Khan’s sisters, expressing concern that the detention of women is increasing bitterness and political tensions in the country.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Gohar expressed concern over the deteriorating health of Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi. He called for her immediate release and urged the authorities to release both sisters of the PTI founder.

The PTI chairman said the imprisonment of women who were not involved in politics was not in line with the country’s traditions. He warned that detaining women was further aggravating political tensions and creating an atmosphere of hostility.

Gohar stressed that women’s arrests could deepen political divisions rather than help ease the ongoing situation. He called for steps to reduce tensions and resolve political differences.

He also defended the PTI’s right to organise a long march, saying that holding such a protest was not a crime. His remarks came amid continuing political tensions surrounding the party and the detention of Imran Khan’s family members.

The PTI chairman further said the party’s parliamentary group needed serious consultation on the prevailing political situation. He emphasised the importance of deliberations among party lawmakers to discuss the way forward.

Gohar’s statement came as the PTI continued to demand relief for Imran Khan’s family members and called for measures to ease political tensions.
