LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has launched the search for a new head coach for the national women’s cricket team, with a foreign candidate expected to take charge ahead of the team’s upcoming tour of the West Indies.
According to sources, the PCB has decided to appoint an overseas coach as part of its efforts to strengthen the women’s team’s coaching setup and improve its international performance.
The appointment is expected to be finalised before Pakistan’s scheduled tour of the West Indies, allowing the incoming coach time to assess the squad and prepare players for the upcoming international assignments.
Although the PCB has not officially announced the names of potential candidates, the decision to look beyond Pakistan suggests that the board is considering international experience and coaching expertise for the position.
The development comes as Pakistan women’s cricket continues to focus on improving its competitiveness at the international level.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz is currently serving as the mentor of the national women’s team. His role is part of the existing support structure as the PCB works towards strengthening the team’s overall setup.
The appointment of a new head coach is expected to be an important step in shaping the team’s preparations, strategy and performance ahead of its upcoming commitments.
However, the PCB has yet to make a formal announcement regarding the selected candidate or the expected joining date.
