TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued fresh strategic instructions to the country’s senior military commanders, directing the armed forces to respond to any enemy threat without allowing geographical boundaries to limit their options.
According to Iranian state broadcaster Press TV, Khamenei instructed senior military officials to ensure that all material and non-material assets associated with the hostile intentions of the United States and Israel remain within Iran’s reach.
The directive signals Tehran’s determination to maintain a strong military posture amid continuing tensions with Washington and Tel Aviv, while raising questions about the potential scope of Iran’s response if hostilities resume.
In his strategic guidance to senior commanders, Khamenei warned that if Iran’s adversaries launch military or terrorist attacks again, the Iranian armed forces and the nation themselves would determine when the war ends and under what conditions.
He stressed that Iran should not allow its enemies to dictate the timing or terms of any future conflict.
The supreme leader also underlined the importance of intelligent, effective and comprehensive military preparedness, describing it as essential for confronting potential threats and strengthening the country’s defensive capabilities.
According to the reported instructions, maintaining maximum deterrence should remain a central objective of Iran’s military strategy. He said preparations must be strong enough to discourage adversaries from considering another attack.
The remarks come as tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel remain high, with concerns persisting over the possibility of renewed military confrontation in the region.
Tehran has repeatedly warned that any fresh military action against Iranian territory or interests would trigger a response. The latest instructions appear to reinforce that position by emphasising that potential targets linked to Washington and Tel Aviv should not be considered beyond Iran’s reach simply because of their geographical location.
The reference to both material and non-material assets also broadens the scope of the warning, although the reported statement did not specify particular targets or operational plans.
Khamenei’s message places renewed emphasis on military readiness, deterrence and Iran’s determination to retain control over the course of any future conflict.
With regional tensions showing little sign of easing, the latest directive adds another significant development to the increasingly uncertain security situation in the Middle East.
