Roshan Apna Ghar scheme for overseas Pakistanis launched

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday launched the Roshan Apna Ghar scheme for overseas Pakistanis.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the premier said that his government worked hard to improve the ease of doing business opportunities for overseas Pakistanis.

He stressed that overseas Pakistanis were the country’s assets but were not being given proper opportunities to invest in Pakistan.

The premier stressed that the government initiative will provide security to overseas Pakistan who are fearful of investing in properties owing to the land mafia.

The PM Office earlier, in a series, of tweets, said that the initiative is being launched to make it ‘easier’ for overseas Pakistanis to purchase houses in Pakistan.

“The initiative is being launched as part of Roshan Digital Account with a view to counter difficulties faced by overseas due to host of manual procedures, requirement of physical presence of the buyer and frauds and forgeries,” said the PM Office.

The PM Office highlighted that, previously, “almost no financing” facilities were available for overseas Pakistanis to buy a house for their families in Pakistan.

“Now, Roshan Apna Ghar initiative will allow overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan’s real estate sector or obtain financing from banks at very attractive rates,” read the tweet.

The PM office said that by digitally enabling the “process of lodging investment/financing request, loan approval, documentation and disbursement” the buyers will be able to purchase “properties or obtain finance digitally in Pakistan from anywhere in the world”.
